“Best year of my life:” Celebrating MASD’25 and getting ready for MASD’26
(And how you can help us)

Our last month in MA Social Design, by the numbers:
160 neighbors, collaborators and friends joined us for Social Design Exchange at the Peale and online. Reminisce with us: Photos (thank you, Side A Photography) and recording. Gum.mp3's beats begin at 0:00; welcoming remarks at 1:04:30; behind the scenes of the program at 1:13:00; student capstone presentations begin at 1:22:44; panel conversation begins at 2:14.
100 copies of Social Design Now: Reflections and Speculations (available at Red Emma’s in Baltimore, and online very soon). The book documents our year in the program, including curricular experiments, photos, essays and interviews with folks working in the social design space here in Baltimore and beyond.
9 Amtrak tickets to Philadelphia, where we visited Devika Menon ‘17 at the city’s Service Design Studio
7 brand new MASD alumni!
“Discussing social design and social responsibility every week in class has aided me in exploring my political ideals in my private life outside of class. … Being in MASD helped me work through both my ideas and my behavior.”
🌳 Call for support: As we continue planning for MASD’26, Thomas and I are actively rethinking the structure of the program to better anticipate the professional social design landscape. If you are an alum or practitioner working in the field today, we welcome your perspective in this 1-minute survey.
👯 Call for partners: We are currently hosting conversations with new and long-standing collaborators to explore partnership opportunities in the upcoming academic year. Join us: Here is our open call.
❤️ It has been such an honor to lead the program this year. To Alston, Audrey, Carley, DJ, Kaelyn, Mashal, Shannon: Thank you.
